Tshiawelo Secondary School enhances the culture of teaching and learning. It encourages disciplined, behaviour and promotes accountability and transparency through effective communication within the entire spectrum.

HISTORY OF TSHIAWELO SECONDARY SCHOOL

After the forcefully removal from Tshikota Township in 1982 by the then apartheid regime, Tshiawelo secondary school was built. In 1983 it opened its doors for the first time to the local learners, who have never in the past had a secondary school in the township. It is located about 30km drive from Makhado Town (Louis Trichardt).The school mainly caters for disadvantaged communities of Vleifontein township and neighbouring  villages of Munzhedzi, Maila, Tshathogwe, Muananzhele and Mavungeni. These communities are mainly composed of ordinary labourers, pensioners and social welfare beneficiaries.

This school was under the jurisdiction of Pietersburg Circuit which was monitored by Messrs Mkhawane and Wenzel as our inspectors who visited our school time and again. By then the enrolment was as follows:

 

Standard 6   49 learners

Standard 7   62 learners

 

Standard 8   65 learners (this was the highest standard in those days, and very few schools offered standard nine and ten).

Mr Mukwevho Israel was appointed as the first principal of the school with the following staff members:
